Saintenoy, Gustave-Jean-Jacques

Architect Gustave Saintenoy was born in Brussels on 6 February 1832. He completed a number of commissions in the Leopold district, which underwent rapid development in the mid-19th century following abrogation of tolls (1860). Saintenoy designed the elegant Villa Dansaert, on rue de la Loi, and he contributed to construction of the town house for the count of Flanders. His work was marked by a combination of elements of neoclassicism with Louis XVI style. Saintenoy died in Schaerbeek on 17 January 1892.
